Questions we get asked
Before you write to us.
For centres
Do we have to buy a server?
No. You can run Lexara on one ordinary computer inside your centre, or we can host it for you and you simply log in from a browser. We will tell you which makes more sense for your size before you spend anything.
What happens if the internet drops during an exam?
On a local install, nothing. The exam, the audio, the timers and the autosave all run on your own network, so the sitting continues as if nothing happened. On the hosted option you need a working connection, which is one reason centres with unreliable lines choose the local install.
Who grades Writing and Speaking?
Your own teachers, inside the platform, against the official band descriptors. Lexara does not supply examiners — it gives your staff the queue, the descriptors and the workflow to return a band with a breakdown.
Does Lexara watch students through the camera?
No. There is no video proctoring, no camera monitoring and no automatic cheating detection. Invigilation stays with your staff in the room.
Can we use our own materials?
Yes. The question bank and mock builder are there so you build sittings from your own material and reuse questions across groups.
Does it connect to Moodle or the system we already use?
Not today. Lexara is self-contained: accounts, groups, exams, grading and analytics all live inside it. There is no LMS integration yet, and we would rather say so than promise it.
How long does setup take, and what do you need from us?
We need a list of your teachers, admins and student groups, and — for a local install — one computer that meets the spec we send you. From there we install, load your groups and prepare your first mock.
What does it cost?
It depends on how many students you test, how many branches you have, and whether you run it yourself or we host it. Tell us those three things on Telegram and we will come back with a price for a centre your size.
Can our students practise from home between sittings?
On a hosted install, yes — it’s a browser login. On a local install the platform lives on your centre’s network, which is exactly what makes exam day work without internet.
For students
Do I need to be at a training centre to use Lexara?
No. You can create your own account at emerald.lexara.uz and sit full timed mocks on your own. If your centre already uses Lexara, ask them for your login instead — your results then sit with your group and your own teachers grade your work.
Is this the official IELTS?
No, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Lexara is practice and mock testing. It gives you the real shape, the real length and the real timing, and a band graded against the official descriptors — so you know where you stand before you book and pay for the official test.
Who grades my Writing and Speaking?
A teacher, against the official band descriptors — not a script. Listening and Reading are marked automatically the moment you finish. If you’re studying at a centre that uses Lexara, your own teachers grade you inside it.
Can I do it on my phone?
Lexara runs in the browser, so there’s nothing to install. For a full timed sitting use a laptop or desktop with headphones — Listening and Speaking need them and Writing needs a keyboard. Vocabulary review works fine on a phone.
